Sunday's drab draw at Anfield was the first time in over two years that Liverpool have failed to score in a Premier League game there. And, this is the first time that Liverpool have failed to score in three consecutive Premier League games since March - almost 16 years ago.
When you need a goal or your confidence is drained, Burnley aren't exactly the most ideal of opponents. If you ignore the annual defeat at Manchester City, Burnley have only conceded three goals from open play in their last minutes of Premier League football. Sean Dyche will ask Liverpool to break his boys down if they can and will hope Nick Pope is in the same form as he showed in this fixture last season when Burnley walked away with a draw.
This is a difficult encounter to find a betting angle in. You suspect any win will do for Liverpool, so a low-scoring win without conceding looks the smart play. Not only did they defend at Wolves in typical Allardyce fashion, especially in the second half, they carried a threat in forward areas with Callum Robinson offering an athletic outlet to play the counter-attacking style that Allardyce wants to be implemented.
Matheus Pereira caught my eye too in a performance of real note. Allardyce has spotted his talent and given him a licence to play very high and central in support of Robinson. The interchanging between that front-line will give West Ham problems in this one.
The Hammers are unbeaten in five games now but remain a team to treat with caution, especially against deep defences. Burnley, uncharacteristically, gifted Michail Antonio the opening goal on Saturday which then allowed David Moyes' side to play more on the break and soak up pressure. The perfect scenario. West Brom will offer much more in transition than Burnley did whilst also defending deep at the other end.
Never have the chances of a team winning a football match hinged so much on the availability of one player. Many punters will have been waiting with bated breath, like me, for Brendan Rodgers' press conference regarding the fitness of Jamie Vardy. Leicester are perfectly drilled to beat a ponderous possession-focused team like Chelsea. Under Rodgers, we have seen time and time again that the Foxes are far more effective in games when they aren't required to make the running. Without possession, they are a dangerous beast on the counter as shown by winning six of their seven matches this season when having less than 50 per cent of the ball.
Chelsea will fall into that trap here. Chelsea quite simply can't be relied on away from home. They made such heavy weather in finishing off man Fulham at the weekend with their creative players all looking devoid of confidence.
The Blues have lost 10 of their 28 Premier League away games under Frank Lampard - a record that might just get worse come Tuesday evening. Could you be next? Play for free, entries by pm Tuesday. They were the second lowest scorers in Ligue 1 last season but had the best defence with just 21 conceded. It bought them success though, so they might adopt the same approach this term.
Overall, they were the draw experts with 11 games ending level, just one ahead of Bordeaux, Nice and Brest. PSG only lost one home league game last season but there are several other teams who had impressive home records.
Those looking to improve their home form this season include Nimes and Nantes who both lost on six occasions. Nantes only scored 11 home league goals with Reims managing 12 and St Etienne just Three teams managed to concede less than ten home league goals last season. Lyon only conceded seven in 13, Reims the same number but from 14 and Lille nine in Check out the Ligue 1 odds at Betway. Dijon and St Etienne in particular are a team to keep an eye on away from home with ten defeats on the road last season.
Dijon scored just seven goals in 14 away league games last season. Choose your Ligue 1 selections at 1xBet. We've looked at the key statistics for Ligue 1 and they should help you when making your selections. When you are deciding which teams to back, a look at the current form of teams is vital.
You need to look at the most recent stats and analyse them. Luckily, our team of betting experts are great at doing this and will provide you with lots of helpful information. In the same vein, you should also consider the form of the key players on each side, as it is generally these players that can impact the outcome of a Ligue 1 match. In a similar way, injuries and suspensions can impact the final result of a Ligue 1 fixture - so make sure that you are up-to-date on all the player news surrounding the match of your choice before you make your prediction.
The next factor won't be so important in the first half of the season. Judge how important a match is to a team because when it's the second half of the season, some games might not mean too much. If there is a game between sides who aren't going to get into European competition or be relegated, then how motivated are the teams going to be? Teams that are 10th or 11th in the table but still in with a chance of qualifying for Europe will put more into their games as they try to get important points.
Also, be careful with PSG because if they clinch the league with a few games to spare, the effort they put in for the remainder of the season might not be as high as before. This has happened in previous seasons with league games lost after the title has been won. Look at the line-ups of teams too, are they resting players? The same reasoning can also apply after a big game in European football, as fatigue can set into a team. Last but not least, you should always analyse the different odds available on the market before placing your Ligue 1 bets.
As the odds offered on every Ligue 1 match can vary from bookmaker to bookmaker, you should always compare the values to ensure that you can benefit from the best potential winnings available to you. Small differences can go a long way over the course of a whole season - so register with each of the best bookmakers on the market to ensure that you can always enjoy the best odds. Betting on Ligue 1 isn't always about who is going to win the title.
That's not a great market usually due to the dominance of PSG who are trying to win a fourth straight title this season. There are other markets that you can bet on. These include betting without PSG, which teams will qualify for the Champions League and who will be relegated. Club goals and objectives will also be necessary to consider for your predictions. For example, if a club president announces that they will focus on the Europa League for the upcoming season, then it might be prudent to predict a slightly lower ranking for that club in the final Ligue 1 table.
On the other hand, if a coach claims that domestic league victory will be their priority over European football or the national cup, then it would make sense to include the team in a higher position in your ranking. You might have imagined that the top league scorer would be a PSG player. Throughout the season our team of betting experts will be writing previews of games played in Ligue 1.

But in many ways I felt I was extremely unlucky. The Paris FC game was after 19 mins and then no more goals were scored. I mean, what the fuck?!! Lyon were up at HT and then the second half yielded no goals? The chances of that happening are so low. At least both only returned a half loss instead of a full one. The night did at least end positively thanks to an injury time Philadelphia winner, but the bitter taste from earlier is still in my mouth.

They were by far the better team and Pascal Dupraz seems to have installed some belief back into the team. Is it too little too late for Toulouse?
The form of Reims is worrying. Having lost 5 of their last 7 games, the Champagne club are situated above the relegation zone only by virtue of goal difference. Reims do sometimes produce a really good performance out of nowhere, and one of those is maybe due again very soon. The Normandie outfit have been highly inconsistent in their last half dozen matches.
Les Verts have got back on track following a bleak five game winless period. Two straight wins have propelled Angers up to 45 points in the table. They recruited smartly and were always the best equipped to deal with an ascension into the top flight.

Lyon take on Saint-Etienne on Sunday as the Ligue 1 campaign continues, with the hosts looking to gain ground on the top four. St Etienne, meanwhile, have astonishingly lost five matches in a row, so Claude Puel will be desperate to stop the rot at the Groupama Stadium. It has been a mixed start for Rudi Garcia 's side, who showed their capabilities in August by knocking out Juventus and Manchester City to reach the semi-final of the Champions League.
After being seventh prior to the curtailment of all French football last season due to the coronavirus pandemic, though, Lyon have no European football to contend with this season so are looking to use that to their advantage to get back into a Champions League qualification position.
It has not quite turned out that way yet, with too many draws halting their progression up the table. Discipline has been an issue, with Marcelo sent off in last weekend's draw at Lille and Melvin Bard also given his marching orders in the previous match against Monaco.
However, Garcia's side are unbeaten since matchday three, showing their resolve in earning the draw at Lille despite having a man disadvantage for the majority of the second half. The year-old will be looking to turn those draws into wins, starting with Sunday against a St Etienne side who know little different to defeat at present. Indeed, not for the first time in his managerial career, Puel is under intense pressure after leading his side to five consecutive defeats.
It is a good job his side earned 10 points from their first four matches; hypothetically, if you turned just one of those early wins into a draw instead, St Etienne would currently lie in the relegation zone. Les Verts were dismal when losing at home to Montpellier last week, failing to register a shot on target for the second match running having also failed to test Metz goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja the previous weekend.
It is certainly not the best time for Puel and his men to be heading to a Lyon side packed with quality in attacking areas, then, with forwards Memphis Depay and Toko Ekambi scoring nine league goals between them already this season. Garcia will be without defender Marcelo after his red card at Lille, but otherwise appears to be in the enviable position of a full squad to choose from. Moussa Dembele only came off the bench in that draw and Garcia may be tempted to utilise a front three of him, Depay and Ekambi as he looks to turn draws into wins.
Puel, meanwhile, is without Yvann Macon for the foreseeable future, with the full-back rupturing his cruciate ligament. Yvan Neyou is at risk of a suspension having reached four yellow cards already. With his side looking so insipid offensively of late, the year-old may be tempted to shake things up in attacking areas. With St Etienne failing to test the opposition goalkeeper in their last two matches against worse opposition than Lyon, we cannot see anything beyond a comfortable home win.
